UPDATE (5-19-2008) - Due to lack of registration, we will not have an Omaha Women's league this summer. It is my hope that the league will get started next year, and potentially this fall. The ABTL, now in its 10th season, is in the process of organizing the women's 2008 season. My hope is that you will consider joining us in this tennis endeavor. The cost to join will be $20.00 dollars. This fee covers the cost of trophies, prizes, the ABTL website and miscellaneous other costs. The league provides you with 9 regular season matches and a season ending tournament. Plus the ABTL will have weekly power rankings that are calculated off of records, margin of victory and strength of schedule. And coming back for a second year we will have the ABTL show podcast with Erik and Vince. The deadline to join the Women's ABTL league is May 9th, 2008. If you know of anyone you would like to invite please feel free to forward this email. This season we will again divide up the league into divisions based on playing level. So no matter what your level we will have competition right where you’re at.
How the league works:
The idea of the league is to play 9 scheduled singles matches through the course of the summer, which is a little less than once a week. League play will start May 19th, 2008 and end July 27, 2008. All schedules will be posted on the ABTL website a few days before league play begins. On a weekly basis you contact your opponent and schedule a mutually agreeable time to play your match. All players will be given a login for the website and the winner of the match will be responsible to input the score of their match. I try to be pretty flexible in letting people make up their matches because I realize how busy summers can be. But keeping up with email and communicating your schedule to your opponent must be a priority for anyone wanting to be in the league. There is a bye week scheduled for the week of July 4th where no matches are scheduled to be played. This makes for a good time to catch up on missed matches if you’re behind.
At the conclusion of the season, there will be a season ending tournament. The format of this tournament will be decided once we see how many people sign up to play in the league.
Payments for the ABTL fee can be sent to me, Erik Hjermstad 5707 Elkcrest Dr. Lincoln, NE 68516. All payments must be received by me on or before May 12th. PLEASE NOTE, once the ABTL schedule has been created there are NO refunds.
Competition:
We have a wide range of playing levels so the ABTL can accommodate pretty much anyone. We have all age ranges represented in the league, from players in there late teens all the way to guys in there late 60’s. No matter what your age you will fit in.
