The Ace Bandage Tennis League, now in its 10th season, is in the process of organizing the Fairfield 2008 season. My hope is that you will consider joining us in this tennis endeavor. There is no cost to join the league. The league provides you with 10 regular season matches and a season ending tournament. Plus the ABTL will have weekly power rankings that are calculated off of records, margin of victory and strength of schedule. And coming back for a second year we will have the ABTL show podcast with Erik and Vince. The deadline to join the Fairfield league is May 15th, 2008. So no matter what your level we hope to have competition right were you are.
How the league works:
The idea of the league is to play 10 scheduled singles matches through the course of the summer, which is a little less than once a week. League play will start June 2nd , 2008 and end August 18th, 2008. Schedules can be accessed on the ABTL website. On a weekly basis you contact your opponent and schedule a mutually agreeable time to play your match. All players will be given a login for the website and the winner of the match will be responsible to input the score of their match. I try to be pretty flexible in letting people make up their matches because I realize how busy summers can be. But keeping up with email and communicating your schedule to your opponent must be a priority for anyone wanting to be in the league. There are periodic bye weeks where no matches are scheduled to be played. These weeks have been included so that prior week matches can be made up. At the conclusion of the season, during the end of August, we will have the ABTL tournament. I anticipate the ABTL tournament to held August 25th through August 30th. Everyone in the league is welcome to play the season ending tournament. Seedings for the tournament are based on league results. The tournament champion will receive an ABTL trophy.
Competition:
We hope to have a wide range of playing levels so the ABTL can accommodate pretty much anyone. All playing levels and all ages are welcome to play. So no matter what your age is you will fit in.
